Mads Mikkelsen Looks Menacing As Johnny Depp’s Grindelwald Replacement For ‘Fantastic Beasts 3’
The shocking news came last week that Johnny Depp will be leaving the Fantastic Beasts franchise as its villain, Gellert Grindelwald. The announcement came after Depp lost a recent libel case against The Sun. Shortly after, it was revealed that Casino Royale star Mads Mikkelsen is now in talks to replace Depp as the dark wizard.
Filming on Fantastic Beasts 3 is already underway in the United Kingdom with Johnny Depp having some scenes as Grindelwald for the sequel already under his belt. With the recent release date shift, Mads Mikkelsen now has some time to get comfortable as the new Grindelwald of the Harry Potter prequel series. At the end of the first film, the powerful dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald was captured by MACUSA (Magical Congress of the United States of America), with the help of Newt Scamander.
